Raku fire.jpg

Midrange ceramics is what I have been doing for years, but I also occasionally do some Lowfire work that includes Raku.

This is my home made Raku Kiln that I built out of an old broken kiln, cut kiln brick, and boiler room bricks that I repurposed.

In addition to that, I have a couple years experience with high fire work using gas and Woodfire kilns.

Technique

I mainly throw on the wheel and add sculptural components after, but I am also experienced in using molds and slip casting. Purely hand built pieces are also a big part of what I create.

Here are a few red clay cups I threw right after being taken off the wheel

The work behind the wood. Below is a couple of images of my cups from fresh off the wheel, being coated in a different clay to contrast, and finally are a few cups that are carved and ready fot their first fire.
